Missions/Evangelism
Our Philosophy
We believe the command of the Great Commission is clear: we are to make disciples of all the nations. We take seriously our responsibility as a local New Testament Church to obey the Lord’s command to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. Our philosophy for missions and evangelism is manifested by our challenge to engage every church member in actively supporting the sharing of the Gospel in our local community. Our philosophy of missions is to achieve a balance between our support of missionary efforts, and our own missions ministry as a local church. We desire to partner with other like-minded, like-hearted churches to start and strengthen true Bible-centered churches. In our efforts to reach the nations, we believe we must send people into the harvest, and come alongside indigenous people in reaching their own culture. Our missions giving reflects our world mission thrust, by balancing our financial support between western missionaries and indigenous missionaries.
Short-term Mission Trips
For several years now, we have endeavored to take short-term missions trips, at home and abroad. Our mission trips focus on evangelism and church strengthening/church planting in the U. S. A. Our international trips have focused on Gospel preaching, training, equipping and encouraging local indigenous people to reach their own communities. For the past five years we have concentrated our international mission trips in Mozambique, but have also taken trips to Peru.
Our Great Commission Partners
We are a Southern Baptist Church, and through our involvement with the Cooperative Program we support more than 10,000 missionaries sent worldwide. We also partner with individual churches in additional mission work. We currently partner with Christ Baptist Church in Polokwane, South Africa, through giving to Christ Seminary, and by supporting missionaries and an orphan feeding program through their mission arm, Samaria Mission. We also support indigenous missionaries through HeartCry Missionary Society, the mission arm of Grace Life Church of the Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. We are a member church in the Illinois Baptist State Association, and locally with the Franklin Baptist Association. For the past two years we have worked in church planting/strengthening with the Spurgeon Baptist Association of Churches in Kansas.
Orphan Feeding Ministry
Through our mission partnership with Christ Baptist Church doing missions in Mozambique, an orphan feeding ministry has been developed. Currently the orphan feeding is taking place in three remote villages in the Limpopo Corridor. Our ministry to the orphans has helped authenticate our concern for the people, and enabled our Gospel message to fall on receptive ears. The feeding program we are involved in is very unique, and differs from other feeding programs. All money given goes directly toward orphan feeding without administrative costs. We are praying that God would raise up partners in helping us care for the needs of the children. If you would like more information about the orphan feeding program, click here.
